Planning Your Gift

Education is a vital investment, one that fosters a healthy and vibrant community. A planned gift supports future students in their academic endeavors by assisting them with a wide range of education costs and contributing to the development of innovative programs that promote their success.

We can work with you and/or your professional advisors to structure a planned gift that best suits your individual needs. Please explore the highlighted methods of planned giving featured in this brochure, or contact the SBVC Foundation for more information.

Gift Options

Real Estate/Residence With Life Estate Reserved

This arrangement works well for donors who:

  • Are looking to retain use of a personal residence or farm, and
  • Who want to make a gift that maximizes their charitable deduction.

Life Insurance

There are two ways to accomplish this.

  • Assign ownership of the policy to San Bernardino Valley College Foundation and receive a charitable deduction for the premium payments or cash value of the policy.
  • Designate San Bernardino Valley College Foundation as the beneficiary of the policy. No deduction would be available because beneficiary designations are revocable.
Helen Ann Gleason Bogatin

Helen Bogatin, SBVC Alumna & Member of the SBVC Legacy Society

"My advice to SBVC students: Define the dream, determine the pathway, do the work necessary, and when you arrive, give back. It is the giving back that turns out to be the best reward.”

Helen Ann Gleason Bogatin (Class of '42) generously gifted a portion of her estate to the San Bernardino Valley College Foundation.

The Helen A. Bogatin Memorial Scholarship was named in honor of the former San Bernardino High School teacher and counselor. A San Bernardino native and San Bernardino Valley College alumna, Mrs. Bogatin left the gift to assist aspiring fellow educators through scholarship funding.
