SBVC Track and Field Athletes Close Season at 3C2A Championships
Members of San Bernardino Valley College’s track and field teams wrapped up their
2026 seasons with strong performances at the 3C2A Championships held May 15–16 at
Mt. San Antonio College.
Freshman Micah Watson led the Wolverines with a third-place finish in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. In one of the closest races of the championship meet, Watson crossed the finish line in 9:20.01, just 0.14 seconds behind second place and less than one second behind the event champion.
Freshman Callie Frias represented SBVC in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing 10th with a time of 12:26.44 despite stumbling over a barricade during the race.
Competition began Friday with SBVC runners competing in the 10,000 meters. Savannah Flores became the first female athlete in SBVC history to record a sub-40-minute finish in the event, placing sixth in 39:14.25. Sophomore Zach Calderon earned an eighth-place finish in the men’s 10,000 meters with a time of 32:50.03 during his second appearance at the state finals.
SBVC athletes also delivered strong performances in the field events on Saturday. Freshman Tamia Hardwick placed fifth in the women’s long jump with a top mark of 18 feet, 3 inches, while Jordan Carter finished eighth in the men’s triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 8 inches.
The championship meet concluded another successful season for SBVC track and field, highlighted by state-level competition, school milestones, and multiple top-eight finishes.
