San Bernardino Valley College officially kicked off the Spring 2026 semester on January 16 with its Opening Day celebration, marking the beginning of the term during a particularly meaningful year as the college continues to commemorate its Centennial Anniversary.

Faculty and staff gathered to hear updates and reflections on the college’s progress, accomplishments, and priorities as SBVC enters its 100th year of service to the community. The program included remarks from SBVC President Gilbert J. Contreras, Ph.D., and San Bernardino Community College District Chancellor Diana Z. Rodriguez, Ed.D., who both highlighted the college’s continued commitment to student success, innovation, and community impact. Trustee Joseph Williams also addressed attendees, sharing insights and encouragement as the college looks ahead to the semester and the yearlong centennial celebration.

In addition to leadership remarks, faculty and staff provided updates on key initiatives and achievements from the previous semester, offering a comprehensive look at the progress being made across campus. These updates underscored the collective efforts of the SBVC community and the important role each department plays in advancing the college’s mission.
