Five members of the San Bernardino Valley College men’s basketball team scored in double figures as the Wolverines held off a late surge to defeat visiting Cerro Coso College, 72–62, Saturday afternoon. The win marked SBVC’s seventh consecutive victory.

The Wolverines built a commanding lead early, opening the game on a 10–0 run and taking a 15-point advantage into halftime. SBVC shot an efficient 54.8 percent from the field in the first half while limiting the Coyotes to 35 percent shooting.

Cerro Coso made a strong push in the second half, trimming the deficit to four points with 1:25 remaining. However, the Wolverines responded defensively and at the free-throw line to secure the victory down the stretch.

Stanley Thomas III led SBVC with 15 points, while Channing Shelton contributed 14 points off the bench. Bryan Cabrera added 12 points, Jaden Riley finished with 11, and Duante Murphy posted 10 points to go along with nine assists.
