On Friday, September 12, Congressman Pete Aguilar toured San Bernardino Valley College’s Clean Energy / EV Tech Program, highlighting the college’s advancements in sustainability and workforce training. During his visit, Congressman Aguilar explored SBVC’s two new 2024 Volvo heavy-duty electric trucks, funded through a $1.5 million Community Project Funding award he secured for the SBVC Foundation in late 2023.

The tour also included a stop at the Charles Obershaw Automotive Bay, where Congressman Aguilar met with students enrolled in the SBVC Aeronautics program. He spoke with them about the importance of their field to the Inland Empire and beyond, encouraging students to pursue careers in the growing aerospace and clean energy sectors.

In addition to engaging with students, Congressman Aguilar posed for photos with SBCCD Chancellor Dr. Diana Z. Rodriguez, Trustee Carlos Aguilera, presidents’ executive cabinet, Dean Dr. Vanessa Thomas and Foundation staff.

His continued support is fueling student success, strengthening workforce readiness, and helping to build a more sustainable future for the San Bernardino region.
