Valley Up 2 CSUSB

San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) and California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) have officially partnered to launch the ValleyUp2CSUSB Transfer Scholarship, a new initiative designed to help SBVC students transition smoothly to CSUSB.

At the signing ceremony on August 22, SBVC President Dr. Gilbert J. Contreras and CSUSB President Dr. Tomás Morales celebrated the collaboration as a shared investment in student success. Building on programs like Den2Den Housing, which offers affordable campus housing for SBVC students transferring to CSUSB, this new scholarship further strengthens the educational bridge between the two San Bernardino institutions.

Each foundation will contribute $25,000 annually for two years, totaling $100,000 in support. The program will fund 25 scholarships per year—each providing $2,000 toward tuition, textbooks, or transportation. Eligible students must maintain a 2.7 GPA, enroll full-time at CSUSB, and meet regularly with transfer counselors. Preference will be given to graduates of SBVC’s Valley-Bound Commitment Program, a long-standing initiative supported by the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation that helps remove financial barriers for first-year students.

“This partnership is about more than scholarships—it is about building a stronger, clearer pathway for our students to achieve their educational and career goals,” said Dr. Contreras. “By investing together, SBVC and CSUSB are demonstrating our commitment to the students and families of San Bernardino.  Further, Valley College wants to be the #1 feeder community college for CSUSB.  This scholarship is another step towards reaching that goal.”

The ValleyUp2CSUSB Transfer Scholarship embodies both institutions’ mission to expand access to higher education and empower Inland Empire students to reach their full potential.
